NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING APPLICATION OF HAWAII ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY, INC., FOR APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT 69 KILOVOLT OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION LINE SEGMENTS TO RECONNECT THE PUNA GEOTHERMAL VENTURE GENERATING FACILITY Docket No. 2019-0119 The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION ("Commission"), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes ("HRS") 269-27.5, HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of HAWAII ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY, INC. ("HELCO"), filed on June 7, 2019, for Commission approval to construct 69 kilovolt ("kV") overhead transmission line segments to reconnect the Puna Geothermal Venture ("PGV") generating facility to HELCO's system. The public hearing will be held as follows: Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. Pahoa Neighborhood Facility 15-3022 Kauhale Street Pahoa, Hawaii 96778 APPLICATION SUMMARY HELCO is a public utility that provides electricity service to the island of Hawaii. On June 7, 2019, HELCO filed an Application, requesting that: (1) the Commission conduct a public hearing, as required by HRS 269-27.5, for the overhead relocation of sections of existing 69 kV transmission lines through a residential area; and (2) the commission determine, pursuant to HRS 269-27.6(a), that the relocated 69 kV transmission lines be constructed above the surface of the ground. Copies of HELCO's Application are available for public review through the Commission's electronic Document Management System, accessible at, Docket Quick Link 2019-0119. In addition, copies of HELCO's Application are also available for review by contacting the Commission's Hawaii District Office [(808) 974-4533] or Honolulu Office [(808) 586-2020], or the Division of Consumer Advocacy [(808) 586-2800]. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow all interested persons to state their views on HELCO's Application. All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on HELCO's Application.
